It all began with Sara Jane…

Dad (Ed) had an interest in goats and thought maybe they could help him clear some brush. So he built a small pen, a little shelter
and in July '03 got Sara Jane. She was a goat looking for a home and we were a home (soon to be ranch) looking for a goat. A match
made in Heaven … or so we thought.

Things went well for the first few days. Sara met the family (lots and lots of kids - of the people variety) and the family met Sara. She
attended bonfires and birthday parties and became a family friend. Then one day… She was gone.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Where could a goat be? Dad searched far and wide on foot and by four-wheeler - no sign of Sara. Days
turned in to weeks and no sign of Sara. Assuming she had gone on to the next life or neighbor, Dad rounded up some more goats - on
loan until the kids were old enough to leave their moms. Wow!! Now we had five goats. The kids - the human kind- were amazed and
the family was happy but the goats disappeared.

Luckily this time mom (Jo) and Adam found the herd down the road. Carrying the leader on the four-wheeler, they returned the goats to
the pen. Being that these were loaners, Dad decided best to return them to their owner before they venture into the world beyond.

So, now comes a decision. To goat or not to goat… that is the question. Dad pondered briefly (personally, I think he was just plain fed
up) and decided to do the clearing with a little more power, bought a "Dr. Brush" Mower and forgot about goats.

    Now fast-forward 30 days from Sara's disappearance…

A logger comes out of the woods up to the house and asks if we have lost a goat. Mom explains they had a goat but no longer.

Logger: Did your goat have an orange collar?
    Mom: Yes, Sara did.
Logger: Found her in the woods. She just walked up to me.

So Dad goes out and guess what.. There was Sara Jane, apparently finishing up the adventure of a lifetime. So back she comes and
once again we are goat owners. A short time passed before the other goats began to arrive but…

It all started with Sara Jane.
